Bugs / Re: Win 10 - Can't play fullscreen in 0.1.14.2

Also Chrom doing the same, except he track even every mouse move and who know what else. Google_updater in task manager, and you can't kill it.
Also Chrom or Chromium has option by default, that turn on microphones and send all data on servers.
And that's just what everybody knows.

The sad reality is - in the modern world there isn't a single thing which doesn't track, spy, watch or log you.

Whether that's the local supermarket with it's customer clubcard, every single naughty google search you've ever done or more sinister things =(

Not that it's right.

We can hardly sit here completely disconnected with our tin foil hats on.

Before installing - who goes through every single line of code in a "safe" Linux distro looking for any evidence of tracking? Can you trust them because "they" say it's safe?

Windows 10 needs a few improvements but I can see it becoming the new 7 with DX12, etc.

Got us by the danglies - like it or lump it I suppose =\

Development Log / Re: Dev Log #41: Noise System; Vacation
« on: September 03, 2015, 06:59:21 pm »
It might seem like a silly question but I'll ask it...

NPC weapons/actions/etc also create noise?

If yes - can the player detect NPC's (approx?) locations from the noise they create? i.e. can the player hear?

I know we have stealth mode to sneak around and visually scout with.

It would be rather strange if the player actions create noise whilst the NPC's are completely silent/in a vacuum.

Noise will be an excellent mechanic - it'll add a certain amount of randomness and variety.

It's far too easy in Fallout to pick off enemies one-by-one (i.e. Khan raider camp) unless they're grouped together.

General / Re: Bought the game of Desura in Jan 2013...

Several weeks have passed since the first post was made but I'm able to login as of the 3rd September.

Get your STEAM keys whilst you can; I don't think Gabe is going anywhere, well....Valve isn't at least.

It's none of my business really but I guess Desura never settled what they owe Styg & Co?
http://www.desura.com/groups/desura/news/may-27th-update
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/245334/Desuras_parent_company_has_filed_for_bankruptcy.php

I'm not a lawyer but isn't it a breach of terms for them to continue selling your game with no intention/possibility of them paying up?

What happens to Desura purchasers of Underrail currently? Do they still get a key, etc?

Can you not remove the game files / store page from your side Styg?

Personally I regret buying from them - I would've preferred a direct payment option at the time; as I did with Knights of the Chalice.

You'll be last in a rather long line of creditors I suppose; at least a 70-30 split with STEAM is better than nothing.

The latest update sounds great yet again!

Noise! I've lost count of the number of games where the NPC's are deaf.

Is the boxing ring a homage to Fallout 2? I hope we can go 12 rounds!

Actually i made the boxing ring without much thinking, later we realized that fallout had also a cool boxing ring. There are a lot of homages to fallout and other classic games, movies and Ips. :D

Just think... in several years time - if we're all still here - there may be references to that classic game... Underrail 8)

If the plan:

Then we will release the game in full, make lots of money, retire to a tropical island and live happily ever after. That's the plan at least.

Goes pear-shaped then always Underail 2 to think about ;)

General / Re: Beta

Any ETA for beta?

I've seen people asking for release date, so question like this seems appropriate.

In all honesty Underrail - as an unfinished game - is in a better condition today than 99% of other modern big budget "finished" titles that get released in Alpha, Beta, Early Access, etc states.

I've played both Wasteland 2 and Dead State recently and neither have truly blown me away with their execution.

As far as problems are concerned - nothing particularly awful leaps out at me:

+++ The game seems stable enough - I've never had a crash / lock up / etc
+++ The game requirements aren't strict - if need be - it can run easily on our old Dell D630 laptop
+++ There's a ton of quality content to play through now with a little bit more on the way
+++ Setting, Lore, Writing & Content has consistency
+++ Lots of viable playing styles / character types
+++ Love the oddity XP system & combat mechanics seem well thought out - reminds me of ToEE - with it's split movement/action points
+++ DRM free plus an extra key for STEAM if that rocks your boat

--- There's a few spelling/grammar goofs; but Styg's english is far better than my serbian! ;)

Other than that a bit of number balancing/tweaking will surely occur & some more quests/areas will get added. Portraits will add a bit more "soul"

Some people might like a manual (I find the in-game help & wiki sufficient)

I'd like to see Feats become a bit more *exciting* complete with broken powerful feat synergies i.e. Small Guns, .44 magnum, Sniper/Slayer, Action Boy (2), Bonus Rate of Fire, Fast Shot & Living Anatomy (but maybe that's my Fallout bias! =P)

The old Timelapse Vertigo videos really highlight how far this game has come.

Getting some definite Crusader No Remorse vibes from some of those screenshots.

Is the boxing ring a homage to Fallout 2? I hope we can go 12 rounds!

I've been holding off from playing very far into the game so far but this release looks like a solid candidate for a further playthrough.

Looking (and sounding) great as usual.

It's outright criminal that the games true value is undersold.

From the character models I'm guessing there's going to be lots of human portraits with rebreathers/masks? =P

I can't wait to see a few creature portraits personally (i.e. radiated critters near the junkyard)

Wasteland 2 didn't get a great deal right unfortunately (for $3 mill++) but a few of the portraits are rather good at least =\

General / Re: assault rifle build
« on: October 17, 2014, 06:11:10 pm »
Base:
Strength 7 (weapon and feat requirements)
Dexterity 5 (for throwing and lockpicking a bit)
Agility 3 (since i don't use stealth, dodge or evasion, since i want to use heavy armor)
Constitution 7
Perception 10 (for the guns skill)
Will 3 (since i don't use psi or persuation skills)
Intelligence 5 (for hacking and maybe, if recommended, some crafting skills)

Skills: (the ones i definitly want to use)
Guns 15
Throwing 15
Hacking 15
Lockpicking 15
Traps 15
45 points left

For the time being I'd make more of a general gunslinger; as epeli says there aren't many pure rifle feats at the moment.

In fact there aren't many high level feats at all atm =\ { nothing like Sniper or Slayer at least! }

It can take a while to get the first assault rifle which should get dropped by the Raider leader in GMS Compound.

I prefer to not set attributes below 4 but I decided to go with:

Strength 6 (+2 at level ups)
Dexterity 8 (+2 at level ups)
Agility 4
Constitution 5 (feat: conditioning)
Perception 10
Will 3
Intelligence 4

Guns 15 (max per level)
Melee 5 only (make the early rathounds easier)
Hacking 15 (max per level)
Lockpicking 11 (keep at same level as hacking)
Stealth 10 (up to 40 for feat: ambush)
Mechanics, Electronics, Tailoring  10 each (focus here!)
Biology, Chemistry 5 each (Up to 60 or so for the advanced blueprints?)
Persuade 13
Intimidate 11 (keep at same level as persuade)

Possible feat selections (in no particular order) would be something like:
Aimed Shot*, Recklessness*, Gunslinger, Kneecap Shot, Execute, Steadfast Aim, Ambush, Snipe, Sharpshooter, Full-Auto, Doctor, Conditioning

With the aim of landing as many critical hits or conditional damage boosts as possible. You want to get your hands on a 7.62 Hammerer type pistol ASAP switching to whichever weapon does the job later on.

*starting feats

Bugs / Re: Find Newton / PSI bugs

Looks like your save got corrupted for some reason. No clue why it broke, but I fixed it!

http://www12.zippyshare.com/v/89988151/file.html

That's done the trick!

You're earning lots of applause tonight ;)

The loss of the missing Periscope Part at the entrance gives me the perfect OCD excuse to start again! =D

Hmm...

whether to add just enough melee points (5/10/15?) to hit a rathound (95%) or not...

Not quite sure how chance to hit works on Underrail -> 70% to hit @ 0 skill  -> 95% to hit @ 15 skill

Unlike Fallout which worked off a simple percentage chance minus AC & range modifiers i.e. +10 skill points = +10% chance

Edit: Bit of testing and a rank of 5 points in melee (overall) seems to be enough to jump from 70% to 95% chance. Odd but who am I to argue? =D

I did a bit of further testing by creating another new character.

A male brawler type and quickly sped through the opening quest.

Everything looks to be perfectly normal with this character

Bugs / Re: Single bullet loading.
« on: October 13, 2014, 07:50:02 pm »
I never paid much attention to those tooltips, I just drag the ammo to my action bar, set it to load single (current) and always use it via keyboard shortcut. That makes loading single bullets a lot less tedious btw.

A great time-saver!

I knew you could drop lockpicks, dog crates, skills, etc - onto the quick bar but I wasn't even aware this was possible!

I've been going through the inventory every time =\

Bugs / Re: Single bullet loading.

Yes it does work as you state.

When firing my characters pistol however; the bullets are depleted/added from the left side unlike your example.

The floating help text looks like it needs a slight adjustment!

In the first picture - I can't load a single bullet into another weapon during combat.

In the second picture - I can load a single bullet into the current weapon during combat.

Either way, the info float states that it isn't possible to load a single bullet during combat! =D

Bugs / Find Newton / PSI bugs
« on: October 13, 2014, 07:05:49 pm »
I've a come across a strange problem with this quest.

The PSI bugs that normally spawn near the entrance and inside the small base are completely missing!

Newton is there and I have the option to lie about killing the (missing) bugs or kill the (missing) bugs =D

Attached a savegame.

The first time I completed this quest with a different character I didn't suffer from this problem?!? oO

I used a freshly made character - not an imported one.

I notice that all the containers and doors in and around the warehouse have already been looted - which I did with my original character.

So I assume the map isn't being refreshed/initialized?

Bugs / Re: Single bullet loading.

It would be useful to have that functionality in certain situations.

But would it be worth it?

I imagine that action would be tricky to perform mid-combat & simulated by a large AP cost?

Hence by the time a single bullet has been loaded in you could've just fired two shots.

Just how hard is it to load a single bullet into a clip/gun without dropping anything, whilst under pressure?

I'd be happy with a simple change to the current magazine loading mechanics.

Reloading a weapon changes the entire magazine into the chosen ammo type.

I think it would be better, for example, if you could load a stack of 10 bullets plus a stack of 10 W2C bullets - to the 20 bullet capacity of the weapon.

Without using the tedious reload-by-bullet option.

Especially if anything like tracer ammo is added to the game.

To deal with this scenario the best option is to simply carry a gun loaded with W2C rounds and a separate weapon loaded with another type.

That's what I intend on doing with my latest pistoleer - one laser, one acid, one normal gun - that should cover all bases shouldn't it? oO

Another small one with Quinton.

I'd suggest simply changing it to:
