General / Re: Is my build doomed or should I keep playing it?
« on: May 15, 2017, 11:06:07 pm »
depends on difficulty level
if you play on normal u can go with anything.
on hard you have to think a bit bcs you wouldn`t survive even one turn quite often.

You can go pistols in that build you already have

well. it depends on build mostly. I think that some info should be given at the first screen with skills/attributes that you can have more than 10 points in one attribute.

stealthy builds are too easy imo.

money - as long as you don`t play a tin can there is no money sink in this game what i dislike.

First quests should have better navigation/directions. Catching rabbits is too difficult for plenty of builds - i think it should be possible to omit this.

you need a very good heavy armor so knives wouldn`t penetrate the armor.
So up to late game you have to survive.

 author is right.
Without the forum i will never  guess it works with burst. Description should be changed imo.

General / Re: killing humans vs quests - xp rate
« on: January 13, 2017, 04:03:48 pm »
i have finished this game already and there are only few quests related to some location and after doing them you can just kill all the ppl there.
From quests you get like 2-5 k xp while killing one guard in core city gives   you 1 k xp. When it drops below 200 xp it is not worth anymore.
Beside main storyline the only location some characters will need is the  forge ( or however it is called) to get super steel.

I look at this game also from the side of my first gameplay when i was wasting plenty of time just looking for some crafting parts. When you kill you get items from drops, even good shields. Overall you need only spearhead and super steel armor when you play heavy armored guy.

General / killing humans vs quests - xp rate
« on: January 12, 2017, 09:42:47 pm »
i have made a new test character and i found i can power level him just by cleaning locations (core + junk) from npces ( coretech + protectorate + both factions in junk). Drops are good enough to actually end the game with them. No crafting needed no money as long as you play stealthy.

XP from quests seems so low compared to just killing.

Is there any reason not to do something like that?

General / Re: Detecting stealthed enemies
« on: January 10, 2017, 07:47:04 pm »
As far as I can tell (and I can be horribly wrong here) enemies always have a relatively high detection, enough that if you try to go into an area where you are not level appropriate in stealth you will be detected automaticly.

As for whether you can instantly spot enemies in stealth. My guess is that no, they always have enough stealth to never be auto spoted unlike you. At least that's what I get from my experience. However I'll also say that even if you could all that would result is the enemy instantly initiating combat since just like you, the enemy knows when it's spoted and will initiate combat.

not rly.

With the proper stealth items and detection googles you can at lvl 12-13 go whenever you want.

Bonuses are huge. Especially googles.

From gear you have like 60 from googles you have +60-90% detection easily.
My sniper at lvl 10 had 160 stealth with the food included.

just kill protectorate if you don`t want to do missions for them. IF you are hostile to all free factions than you have to restart the game.

Protectorate is free exp.

max perc and guns skill. EOT.
Guns skill gives you accuracy and damage.
If you need money just alt-tab the game and go back after 2 h so the stores will be restocked.

And you can get fairy amount of money (by selling stuff) from some raiders below SGS

edit:
And up to mutants you can use any weapon you like and you shouldn`t have any problems killing mobs.
Just loot corpses from guns/armor and sell it to the armorer.
Pro-tip: You can use ANY container to store loot - it wouldn`t disappear. So when you have any type of the box close to the shop  -> store loot there so you will not have to carry everything. At the end game i have had more than 800 items in Core City.

yea but  when i loo for weapons :
from snipers you have spearheads - worth to craft
from AS the best imo is just the hornet in many cases - you can quite easy drop hornets with much better quality than you will most possibly get in game.
from SMG i used mostly the steel cat
(included gun nuts)

PSI users have some usages from crafted items but if you go heavy armor then again it is the armor by itself. Heavy armor to be accurate.

About light/medium armor for non PSI i was always able to find very good armor from drops and was switching only to regenerative vest out of combat to heal.

Thx for info.

So my idea to count on items is not valid anymore. I`ve seen many good hornets/shields/snipers rifles from drops. So i will say crafting is good only for heavy armors and spearheads with rr.

« on: December 30, 2016, 10:03:26 pm »
i have looked into my saves and it seems i have a few good shields 600-800 and sniper rifles with up to 180 dmg. My spearhead 108 quality was around 100 dmg. Shield i created was 670.

Is the loot in 100% random or maybe it is possible to get some good equipment just by killing some given guys in game? Special armor/weapon is obtainable from some given npc. What about non special stuff?

i`m not a specialist in this game it`s only my opinion. I tried to play AS heavy armor, sniper and psi/smg build and finished this game. So what i write is from practice not from theory.

I have given few places where my heavy armor died like having no armor at all or when armor was totally useless.

psi/smg i was playing as the last run and it was mediocre as i have written somewhere else on the forum. And i knew at that point game from begin to end.
Sniper was easiest for me, when you can go to higher level areas and still do well as long as you kill psi snipers(also crossbows) at the first place.

under SGS(starting base) there are for example 2 freezers in one camp. I died there with a bit of unlucky freeze at the end of turn.

if u are 75 % res attack protectorate in core city.

Even in core city when you fight the gang mobs you get a powerful psi user with shades cold damage and so on.

Ambush has often 2-3 ambushers. You are crippled 4 str at begin next turn 1 str. Even when you leave embassy there are 2 knifers. They are only two so still they are easy to kill but i think they are there to teach ppl. Between core city and drones you have 1 crossbow and 2 knifers. Later you get groups of 5-6 ppl.
And when we talk about chances - you can easily miss two 95% shots. Assumption that you will kill one guy with the burst is ... rather optimistic. Especially that you start with -4 str. Flash grenades are a way to go but new players don`t use them ;).

Sniper is never ambushed if he doesn`t want to.

It is not worth to talk about the late game bcs it is in general easy. What i think is problematic for  new players is first 15 levels border.

And new players wouldn`t start from super steel armor. In my first gameplay i solved  mine quests at the end of game.

when you are at 10 lvl you can go to 25 lvl area and still detect enemies with googles ( + 80 % detection is easy to get), ( You get bonuses to stealth from boots and armor).
with 75 % resistances you are still one shooted.
Overall you need super steel armor before it becomes useful.  To get this you need high level due to crafting requirements.

Without detection googles you can be crippled to 1 str easily even with quite good heavy armor as long as it is not at least 120 q ss.

Those are my notes from my gameplay.

Late game heavy armor is useful maybe even on the last arena guy(midgame) but late game is easy and short. And anyway vest is better midgame than heavy armor :/. You can easily go rifle vest and get better results.

One more problem with armor is that psi still can easily hit you for 100 + dmg. Even with 10 con it looks like burst from psi users -> freeze -> next turn and you can die. It is enough to have a bad luck and get to many crits. On normal level heavy armor is more forgiving.

An yea you need heavy armor with 3 plates on it -> it will be always 95% penalty when you include boots and helmet.
