Would love to test out the expansion!  Played a few hundred hours and helped test the game in early access ever since the end of the game was junkyard.  Helped break psi builds, armor, and was (one of?) the first to slaughter fort apogee for your amusement.

Before even thinking of making an achievement or putting in an ironman mode, you have to make sure the chance of running into a gamestopping bug is < 0.1%.  Pretty sure we're not there yet.  In the later betas I would run into a game stopping bug like one in 2 games, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few left.  For now, better to just give yourself a pat on the back if you manage it but keep a bunch of saves anyways just in case ;)

If you've got steam, I'd just read the steam guide I wrote up :)

Yup, vendors used to work like that, but that was changed about two years ago.  About half of people like it the new way.

Well, there's a few unfair points in underrail that make permadeath on your first run probably not a good idea.  For one, there's a few places where you'll be ambushed without the ability to stealth and assess the situation, some quite early like in GMS when going down to the 3rd floor.  Then there's arena, he warehouse, stealthed dagger enemies.

There's evelyn as well, who is actually do-able consistently if you know exactly what to do, but will just kill you otherwise.

So very first unspoilered shot will likely get you killed on easy even and wouldn't be very fun.  But mostly it's just the length of the game that makes permadeath not the best idea. 70+ hour story based game that you have to restart? Meh.

Well, the game already has easy/normal/hard and oddity/classic.  Since many people would probably just cheat anyways here, figured it would save people time.

I only brought it up because you said it couldn't be done, and it certainly could ;)  YOu started it :P

As I said, though, I already have specific ideas on the matter here: http://underrail.com/forums/index.php?topic=1618.0

Sure, it's basically the assault tank from the steam guide I made, only with 7 int, so far finished half of corecity/foundry.  But really any one of those suggested ones could do the same, although they'd need traps if they wanted the reloading to be lower in light armor due to traps.  Maybe the hammer couldn't, the rebalanced heavy armour wasn't designed for hammer builds really :/

Simply put, this would ball up all the things that a lot of player find annoying, but might take away from the flavor of the game.  Would be a setting like classic/oddity

1) No weight limit.  Personally I just dump lots of guts and components on the docks/foundry merchant/ railroad

2) Scopes can push accuracy above 95%.  I only played sniper build once because of all the savescumming.

3) Trader's buy everything, but at half price

I'm sure others can think of some other things that would be nice to ball into this mode ;D

Well, you should believe otherwise ;)  I've died like 5 times on hard so far, most of the way through xD  Hard only even exists because a lot of us playtested every other release for styg :)

As for difficulty, as I said I think it needs changes and health+hypo are not the only things imo that should be changed.  But I have some very specific thoughts in the thread I made on it, no need to repeat myself :D

Armor sloping isn't even that useful and I always skip it on tanks.  You're better off just going 95% encumbrance as an assault.

I can only see it being useful on a sledgehammer build to eke out a few more MP on heavy armour.

As for tailoring, keep in min, you can dump as many skill points into a skill as you want per level, it just can't exceed level*5.  Need 40 tailoring?  Level up once and dump it all in there.

Bugs / Re: Balor's Hammer
« on: December 27, 2015, 08:11:44 pm »
Given the description, it's obviously not a bug.

As for getting 20 strength, you can totally do it.  I think with the right drugs and food you can get about 21?  Mushroom brew, adrenaline, supersoldier makes for +5, there's probably gear ways of getting higher.

You also don't need to have the required strength to wield it, it just makes it less accurate, and accuracy isn't going to be a problem if you max melee with like 16 strength lol.  I'm only disappointed that it doesn't do much damage, a shock hammer is still superior.

I've ironmanned normal before release.  I think in a long story based game it's more fun to just see how few times you can die though.

Been playing hard, died about half a dozen times as a tank so far.  Mostly stupid deaths though, like dying to the rathound king without backup, not using drugs against a siphoner at level 5, trying Balor at level 11 as a tank, entering the arena too early, etc.

If you're annoyed at reloading too much, I would only save in one room of each town and call that your save point :)

Autosave only isn't a good idea as there are still a few gamebreaking bugs out there :/

Well, the game certainly doesn't force you to cheese through the game on normal, been playing on hard for a while without any zone transition cheating or whatnot.

I made a thread three days ago here with changes to difficulty I think are necessary, and that's pretty much what I'd have to say on the matter.

Thick skull matters more if you adrenaline every tough battle, which I personally do :)

Then it's a matter of losing a precious turn of adrenaline boost or suffering a mere -15 AP.  Also it's pretty crucial for evasion builds.
