Title: The Art Thread
Post by: Eliasfrost on November 23, 2012, 12:35:40 am
Okay! Since I'm a big art nerd and a rising artist myself, I thought it would be natural for me to start an art thread! Things are kinda dead right now so why not start something new?

My goal as an artist is actually to become a concept artist and I'm going to an intense two month course early next year. I have been drawing since I was a kid and I've always loved colours and how they work together (one of my favourite types of scribling is experimenting shading with grading colors from light to shadow, some really amazing stuff can happen). Fantasy and sci fi is kinda my thing, stretching your mind to get results is the best kind of satisfaction.

Any more artists here on Underrail forums? What's your story? :)

To kickstart this thread: I just made a small fanart for the old portrait seen way back in the dev log:

Thank you, I'm thinking about doing another one with either the caves or the commons. :)

While I'm deciding which one it'll be, I want to show some cartoony black/white drawing I made a few days ago. :)

So I just finished my painting of the caverns, with one of the generators. I think it turned out decent, the perspective is somewhat off though.

Another one, this one is more design oriented than the ones above:

Hi I liked this image of yours so I made 3D model of it.It's not really quality work since I done it at work during lunch pause :) ,I hope you like it nevertheless.

btw since I have free time during holidays I might sit down and do it properly.

Wow thank you! It seems my small design have gotten quite a bit of attention, a user on another forum also made a 3D model out of it.

I really like it! It seems a buit squished though?

As I said I was very limited by time.I will post if I decide to do better quality model at home which I most likely will at some point.

As I said I worked bit on better version (http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u651/RatmanX/Objective1V2_zps11837dd3.jpeg)

I didn't have much time(you know how it is with hlodays with all family coming) so objects lacks details and I had no time to edit textures but still better than previous version which I done in less than hour.

Anyway I am still very new to autodesk maya(I have prior limited experience in cinema 4D) so if anyone have tips to share I would highly appreciate it.

Some ideas for the beast in foundry, but we dropped that one because we didn't want another insect.

Always wondered how could Underrail look like if it was made in 3D.
I made this just for fun while i was learning how to model and texture.
